Stronger Women, Stronger Nations Program

Empowering Women to Transform Lives and Communities

UrbanHub’s flagship initiative—Stronger Women, Stronger Nations—combines peer connection, skills training, and community engagement in a comprehensive year‑long curriculum. Our goal? Help women break isolation, build sustainable livelihoods, and become active agents of change in their communities.

Program Journey: What Women Experience

Participants join cohorts of around 25 women for a structured and social learning journey:
Phase Focus Areas & Learning
Yes, Community & Resources Refugees or survivors gather in a group to form bonds and receive a small monthly stipend to meet basic needs
Life Skills & Social Learning Women engage in modules like the value of women's work, solidarity, health and wellness, rights, decision-making, and civic leadership
Numeracy & Vocational Training Literacy, numeracy, and vocational skills (tailoring, agriculture, crafts, etc.) help women start income-generating ventures
Business Basics & Savings Budgeting, bookkeeping, savings group formation (e.g., VSLAs) for personal and community finance

Core Areas of Growth

UrbanHub supports growth across four transformation pillars
  • Earning & Saving: Women disclose increases in earnings and membership in savings groups
  • Health & Well-being: Education in nutrition, hygiene, family planning, mental health
  • Rights & Agency: Knowledge of legal rights, participation in household and public decision-making
  • Social Support Networks: Cohort groups foster long-lasting solidarity and resource sharing
Graduates often join peer cooperatives or alumni groups, sharing insights and building on their collective momentum.

UrbanHub’s Complementary Programs

To amplify impact beyond the core curriculum, UrbanHub offers:
  • Men’s Allyship Engagement: Workshops and dialogue sessions with men and boys to shift harmful norms and build supportive relationships around women’s empowerment
  • Graduate Mentorship & Leadership Development: Ongoing training, business clinics, and peer mentorship for alumnae to continue growing as entrepreneurs and local leaders
  • Community Advocacy & Change Agents Program: Graduates are trained and supported to lead local campaigns, advocate for policy changes, and influence social norms
  • Emergency & Crisis Response Services: In times of displacement, natural disaster, or conflict escalation, we activate support systems for safety, counseling, livelihood support, and connection

Evidence of Impact

Women who complete the program report real, measurable progress:
  • 73% see increased savings
  • 41–43% boost in earnings over baseline
  • Majority gain confidence in household and community decision-making
  • Global cohort membership in support networks increases significantly
In 2023, Women for Women International served over 579,000 women survivors across 17 conflict-affected countries, with a 97% graduation rate from this program—and UrbanHub sets an equally ambitious standard.

Why It Works

UrbanHub’s methodology is built to last:
  1. Community-rooted design: Local facilitators and alumnae co-create content based on lived experience
  2. Integrated training & cash support: Stipends and skills work together to enable real change
  3. Cohort-based learning: Shared safe spaces foster confidence, social capital, and mutual support
  4. Alumni-led sustainability: Graduates evolve into organizers, mentors, and community advocates
  5. Engaging community structures and men: Norms change through inclusive dialogue and local partnerships

Summary

UrbanHub’s Stronger Women, Stronger Nations Program brings women together, giving them the tools—social, legal, health, vocational—to reclaim their lives and transform communities. Through deliberate, evidence-based design and ongoing mentorship and advocacy, women become stronger individually—and collective change gains momentum. Each trained cohort multiplies impact across neighborhoods, making this more than a program—it’s a movement.
